Announced at Nokia World: 2 new super-sized Windows Phones, the first Nokia tablet & Instagram is on the way!

If you were up into the early morning hours of Tuesday to watch the Webcast of the Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi, then you know it was basically one blockbuster piece of news after another.

Nokia took the wraps off of the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 (that’s the 1520 pictured above) – two new models with impressive 6-inch, high-definition screens and more room for Live Tiles – as well as a new Windows RT 8.1 tablet called the Lumia 2520 (pictured below).

In addition, it was announced that an official Instagram app for Windows Phone 8 will be available “in the coming weeks” as well as a long list of great apps and games you should see in the coming months and a new Lumia software update.

Phew! Let me catch my breath here! That’s a lot of great news!

Here’s what Windows Phone Blog Editor Michael Stroh had to say about the Lumia 1520: “The first thing you notice about the new Nokia Lumia 1520 is its gorgeous 6-inch full HD 1080p screen— the biggest on any Windows Phone yet. This puts Nokia’s new phone squarely in the ‘phablet’ camp, as some like to call the emerging breed of supersized, tablet-like smartphones. (One nice surprise: despite the 1520’s impressive size, it still fits easily in the pocket, as I discovered when I tried out a colleague’s loaner device.)”

As for the Lumia 1320 (pictured below), Stroh describes it as “a lower-cost sibling that features a 6-inch 720p screen and 8GB of internal storage (expandable to 64GB).”

The 1320 will be available in orange, yellow, white and black, and is expected to roll out in the first quarter of 2014 to China and Vietnam, followed by other Asian markets, India and Europe.

Stroh also went on to talk about a bevy of new apps from Nokia headed your way, as well as the “Lumia Black” update. The Lumia Black update, which includes the latest version of the Windows Phone 8 operating system, is expected begin rolling out to Nokia Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8 in early 2014.

On the apps front, Nokia also announced: Nokia Camera, Nokia Storyteller, Nokia Beamer and Nokia Glance.
