Daily Update, Sept. 26th – A Microsoft Research Economist Exudes a Passion for Politics

We have two stories for you in today’s edition of the Daily Update:

· Microsoft Research puts the spotlight on David Rothschild, an economist at Microsoft Research New York City. Trained during an academic career that culminated with a Ph.D. in applied economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Rothschild is also an avid follower of the political scene. He has gained lots of renown this year for his work using prediction markets to harness big data in its many and varied forms to calculate and disseminate his prediction for who will be elected president. · And at 11 a.m. PT today, Theresa Payton, former White House chief information officer, will join Microsoft for a live Twitter chat focused on Internet security. Theresa authored a guest post this morning over on Microsoft on the Issues that provides five tips for Internet safety.
